Isabelle Adjani

Isabelle Yasmina Adjani is a French film actress and singer. A fivetime winner of the Csar Award for Best Actress, she won for Possession , One Deadly Summer Camille Claudel , La Reine Margot and Skirt Day . She was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 2010, and a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2014.

Adjani was born in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, to a German Catholic mother from Bavaria and an Algerian Kabyle father from Iferhounne, Kabylie. Adjanis mother, Emma Augusta Schweinberger , called Gusti, met Adjanis father, Mohammed Adjani, near the end of World War II, when he was in the French Army. They married and she returned with him to Paris, not speaking a word of French.
